Episode 22: Figure It Out

Salim and Aahana were college sweethearts who married shortly after graduation. About four years in tho, they realized they wanted completely different things in life. She wanted to move to a big house in the suburbs, he wanted to stay in the city. She liked things done on time, he moved at his own pace. They weren’t right for each other and it was becoming a problem.

Long before they became Mr. and Mrs. Benali tho, they were friends, best friends so after they split up, that’s what they went back to being.

In the three years since the divorce, they only backslided once and not even because of lingering feelings or anything, more like a really late night with too much alcohol. And now, there was a baby at the worst possible timing.

Salim: Have you seen a doctor yet?
Aahana: [nods] Yeah, I went yesterday. She says I’m about eight weeks along.
Salim: [sighs] That makes sense …
Aahana: Yeah … listen Salim, I didn’t come here to try to force you into anything.
Salim: I kn-
Aahana: And I know this isn’t something we planned, or wanted even, so you don’t have to be involved if you don’t want to. I just thought you should know.
Salim: I do want to be involved Ani. You know I’m not going to let you go through this on your own.
Aahana: Are you sure? What about the girl you told me about? You sure she’s ready for all of this, Salim? I mean, I know it was before you met her but it’s still a lot for anyone, especially if you’re trying to pursue a real relationship with her.
Salim: I’m not going to abandon you Ani. I’ll figure it out.
