Episode 32: Heartbreak I

The Nest Morning.
Salim’s Apartment.

Camilla woke up to a text from Salim saying he had to run to the office real quick but would be back soon. She didn’t want to just leave so she found something to watch on TV until he got back. She was about five minutes into Roaring Vice when it hit her. Out of all the times she’d visited or slept over, this was the first time she’d ever been there alone. By herself … with access to all of his stuff.

Before she knew it, she was up, looking around. She didn’t even know what she was looking for. She was just … looking. She looked in the kitchen cabinets, the hallway closet, the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, and was on her way to his bedroom when she saw something on his desk, under a book. Looked like it was a picture or card or something. She lifted it up to get a closer look. Her heart sank when she saw what it really was. An ultrasound for Aahana Benali, dated this past Tuesday

He never once mentioned Aahana was pregnant and why would he have this anyway? This doesn’t make any sense unless … unless … these were his babies … No, that can’t be it.  He told her they were just friends. That there was nothing romantic or anything between them. She looked at the picture again. But there was … cause she’s having these babies … these were his babies …

She slid down in the closest chair she could find.

It all made sense now. This whole time, they were still messing around. That’s why he was so apologetic all the time. That’s what that feeling was trying to tell her.

He was cheating on her.

He didn’t love her at all.

And that alone, hurt more than anything he could’ve ever done to her.
