Over the past few months, Salim and Aahana had come to terms with having this baby, becoming parents, a family even, in the co-parenting-non-traditional sense, but finding out there was going to be two babies instead of one, that set them back a little.
Salim: Twins …
Aahana: Twins …
They both laugh.
Aahana: [throws hands up] I don’t even know what to say at this point. I’m going to have to completely redesign the nursery. Order another crib, car seat [scoffs] and don’t even get me started on the diapers and onesies.
Salim: Double everything.
Aahana: [sighs] Double everything. So how do you think Camilla will take the news? I’m sure an extra baby will be a surprise to her too.
Aahana looked over at him. She knew that look all to well.
Aahana: [eyes widen] Salim! You haven’t told her yet?!
Salim: … I’m telling her today.
Aahana, frustrated: What the hell Salim. You should’ve told her a long time ago. How do you think she’s going to feel when you’re all, guess what babe, I have TWO babies on the way. What do you think about playing step-mom?
Salim: [deep sigh] I know, Ani …
Aahana: You’re lucky if she doesn’t dump your ass.
